KHY = WHY??
Let's take a look at Kylie Jenner's newest clothing brand
Ever since Kylie Jenner’s initial fashion brand fail - Kendall & Kylie Swim - the fashion world has stood outside her brainstorming office, ears straining against the expensive wood as we wait to see what she does next. Alas, we didn’t have to wait too long, exactly two years later Jenner has re-entered the fashion business scene with her newest clothing brand: khy.
According to Jenner in an interview with Wall Street Journal, khy stands for “King Kylie” which she says she is “to her core.” I’m still a little confused on where the ‘H’ comes from in the brand name, but everything the Kardashian-Jenner clan does is a little odd.
The brand is said to feature clothing with architecture inspired elements made from black faux leather (so basically black plastic??).
The brand was created with the help of co-founders Kris Jenner and Emma and Jens Grede - a married couple who also have their hands in Skims and Good American.
Khy has only dropped one collection thus far - I like how Jenner is starting off slowly with this line instead of dropping a TON of garments all at once. Throughout the year, the brand will feature different guest designers and concepts in separate drops.
Jenner says that everything will be affordably priced - which I appreciate. Initially, I would guffaw at the idea that $100-$200 for a pleather trench coat is labeled as affordable. But after looking at other pleather trench coats in the industry that range from $500-$1,000, I bashfully swallow my guffaw.
After looking through the current khy clothing drop, I am pleasantly surprised. The halter, moto open-back top especially peeked my interest, and I definitely would have bought it if XS wasn’t already sold out. The strapless dress is also a cute number, but again my size is no longer available :(.
I did see a TikTok on Reddit of someone who paired all the garments together and they looked very similar to someone from the matrix. So, individually, the clothing items are cute, but all together… I dunno.
If you can’t find anything you like in the latest khy clothing drop, don’t fear because yesterday (Sept. 8) Kylie took to TikTok and Instagram to announce a new drop on Nov. 15th. For this collection she collaborated with Entire Studios to create a collection of cropped, long, and fitted puffer coats and vests in blue, white, and black. As per Jenner style, everything is said to pair perfectly with a fitted catsuit that will also be included in the collection.
If the upcoming drop looks a lot like something ‘Ye’ would create that’s probably because Entire Studio’s designers (Sebastian Hunt and Dylan Richards) were previously the “ghost” creatives behind YEEZY. Like brother-in-law like sister-in-law(?) I suppose.
Anyhow, I’m excited to see where khy goes and if you’re wondering where I’ll be the next week… I’ll be counting my pennies as I try to save up enough money to buy a blue khy catsuit and a matching blue cropped puffer that I can Velcro and un-Velcro whenever there’s a silent moment, I am trying to make loud.
Love ya always,
xoxo

Pleather, Velcro, puffer... Can you imagine the cacophony walking down the street?
